The Stevens County Library is excited to announce that it has received a $4,000 Community Grant from the Western Kansas Community Foundation to expand its collection of Spanish-language and bilingual children’s books. This funding will help the library provide a wider selection of books for Spanish-speaking families and children learning Spanish.
“We are excited to enhance our collection with books that reflect the language spoken by nearly a quarter of our community,” said Stacey Strickland, Library Director. “This expansion supports our mission to foster early literacy, promote bilingual learning, and cultivate a lifelong love of reading in all children..”
With the WKCF grant funds, the library was able to purchase over three hundred and sixty new Spanish and bilingual books for ages birth through 18. The books are available for checkout immediately. The Stevens County Library invites families to visit the library, explore the new collection, and participate in upcoming bilingual storytimes and library events.
